Will Parkinson
Here is a bio of my background, fishing career, the Smart Fishing UK team and our social media outlets. My name is Will Parkinson and I’m from the southeast of Kent.
I have lived here all my life in a small village around twelve minutes from the coast. I have been a Firefighter in the UK for seventeen years and love the job as if it was my first day.
My passion for fishing started when I was four-years-old, catching my first freshwater fish in a local river with my dad. I was instantly hooked. I fished fresh water up and until I was twelve-years-old where I made the change to Salt water angling from the shore.
I competed in the South East Junior Championship and won four years in a row. After that, I continued fishing around the UK and built up strong connections with Sea Angler magazine where I’ve been featured quite regularly. I ended my shore fishing being sponsored by Angling Direct and was part of a DVD “Cod Magic”.
I have been fortunate enough to have fished in some amazing teams. I’ve fished a big competition off the coast of Watamu Kenya. In this event we managed 3rd overall, catching two Sailfish, one Barracuda and one Striped Marlin.
I now class myself as a Pro saltwater predator angler and specialise in sea Bass fishing along the south coast of the UK. I have spent many hours on the water perfecting my fishing tactics, learning the best ways to use and set up conventional 2D sonar, and the more modern, side scan and 3D mapping.
The vast array of marine electronics available to me has been crucial in competitions, and I’ve spent
countless hours getting the most out of the systems to optimise my time on the water. Fresh water, salt water, deep or shallow, and anywhere in between.
